Colin has been involved in local government within the Scottish Borders for over 30 years, focusing on young people, education and community development. In recent years, he has also been involved in the Third Sector, serving as Chair of Youth Borders, Chair of Eyemouth Community Centre, and a former director.

Dougie Paterson

Dougie joined BCA as Director / Trustee in April 2023. He is currently Berwickshire Housing Associationā€™s Social Innovation Lead. Dougie has a 40-year career in working and leading substance misuse and recovery services, implementing national suicide prevention strategies and leading overseas development programmes. He has also undertaken various evaluation and research projects as an independent consultant.Ā

Dougie Paterson

Dougie joined BCA as Director / Trustee in April 2023. He is currently Berwickshire Housing Associationā€™s Social Innovation Lead. Dougie has a 40-year career in working and leading substance misuse and recovery services, implementing national suicide prevention strategies and leading overseas development programmes. He has also undertaken various evaluation and research projects as an independent consultant.Ā

Kelly Brown

Currently a CEO within the local health and social care sector, operating at a strategic executive level. Formerly a front-line worker, she has developed resilience, person-centred, and recovery-focused care systems addressing health inequalities, innovation, patient safety, and complex mental health and general health conditions. Kelly has a strong track record in leadership and advocacy for inclusion and equality, and she holds non-executive roles on several boards, including experience serving as Chairperson. She is a fully registered Mental Health Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC).

Lindsay Wood

Lindsay has vast experience in working in community settings in Duns and Hawick and other places across the Borders. Lindsay is committed to community development and has worked with lovely and numerous volunteers, on projects with a principal focus, and in improving peopleā€™s lives and the communities where they live. Good volunteers, clever trustees, people who care and people who like doing stuff. Lindsay's speciality: Being happy, and working hard to be lucky.

Margaret Hindmarsh

Margaret previously served as the secretary of the village hall and later became the Chair of the Roxburgh Federation. Afterwards, she joined the RAVS committee and eventually became its Chair. She was seconded to the SOSCVS committee, which covered both Dumfries and Galloway and Borders CVS. When the funding for SOSCVS ended Borders CVS joined with other organisations to form the Bridge, Margret served on the committee until the launch of BCA.Ā

Nicola is Head of Support Services with Scottish Borders Housing Association, where she has worked for 13 years. Prior to this, she worked with Scottish Borders Council in research and policy roles. Nicola, who is from Kelso, has extensive experience in the design and delivery of services to address inequality and create thriving communities. Nicola was previously on the Regional Board at Borders College.
