Platinum Jubilee

‘In 2022, Her Majesty, The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, seventy years of service, having acceded to the throne on 6th February 1952 when Her Majesty was 25 years old.

An extended Bank Holiday, from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June 2022, will provide an opportunity for communities and people throughout the United Kingdom to come together to celebrate the historic milestone. The four days of celebrations will include public events and community activities, as well as national moments of reflection on The Queen’s 70 years of service.

A sum of £70k has been allocated to enable non-profit making community/voluntary groups, schools and churches within the Borders whose project or activity is for the benefit of the wider community, to apply for grant funding to take part in celebratory events/community and legacy projects to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Fund will open on 5 January 2022 to allow communities to plan events and activities to take place.  The fund will close on 30 April 2022. Grants of up to a maximum of £2,500 will be considered for larger projects or for projects that create a lasting legacy of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

More information on the fund will be available on SBC’s funding pages shortly. An FAQ section will also be available shortly, but if this doesn’t answer your questions please contact the Communities and Partnership team through communitygrants@scotborders.gov.uk.’
